Submission Guidelines

Comprehensive guidelines for manuscript preparation and submission to KIJMS

General Guidelines

  • All manuscripts must be original work not previously published or under consideration elsewhere
  • Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English
  • Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced throughout
  • Margins should be 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Manuscripts should typically be between 5,000 and 8,000 words including references
  • Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format

Manuscript Structure

Title Page

Include the full title, author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, corresponding author contact information, and acknowledgments (if any).

Abstract

Provide a structured abstract of 150-250 words. Include: Purpose, Design/methodology/approach, Findings, Research limitations, Practical implications, and Originality/value.

Keywords

Provide 4-6 keywords that capture the essence of your research.

Main Text

Organize into: Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

References

Use APA 7th edition citation style. Ensure all references cited in text appear in the reference list and vice versa.

Plagiarism Screening & Recommended Tools

All manuscripts are screened for originality using Turnitin. Submissions must have an acceptable similarity index and must be free of plagiarism. We recommend the following tools to prepare your manuscript:

  • Turnitin - check the originality of your manuscript before submission.
  • Mendeley - manage references and format citations in APA 7th edition style.

Published articles are prepared for citation indexing in Scopus and Google Scholar so that authors can track the scholarly impact of their work.

ORCID Requirement

All authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD during manuscript submission. ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher.

  • Register for an ORCID iD at https://orcid.org
  • Include your ORCID iD on the title page and in the online submission form
  • The corresponding author must provide their ORCID iD

Tables and Figures

  • Number tables and figures consecutively
  • Provide clear, descriptive titles
  • Ensure all tables and figures are referenced in the text
  • Submit figures in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
  • Place tables and figures after the reference list

Submission Process

  1. Prepare your manuscript according to the guidelines above
  2. Complete the online submission form with all author details and ORCID iDs
  3. Upload your manuscript file (Word format)
  4. Include a cover letter explaining the significance of your research
  5. Provide 4-6 keywords for indexing
  6. Review and submit your manuscript

Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process:

  • Initial screening by the editorial team (1-2 weeks)
  • Double-blind peer review by at least two experts (4-6 weeks)
  • Editorial decision and author notification (1-2 weeks after reviews)
  • Revision and resubmission (if required)
  • Final decision and acceptance

Important Notes

  • Ensure all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript
  • Declare any conflicts of interest
  • Obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted material
  • Follow ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects or animals
  • Submissions not adhering to these guidelines may be returned without review
